Before heading back to the Hotel. We must take the obligatory snapshot of the "Now Playing" sign at the Warfield. |

Planet of Visions.
With only two pics from the show, I kick myself nightly for remembering this time to bring a pen that writes, but forgetting the other roll of film at the hotel. |

Deja Vu.
Perhaps it was a good thing I ran out of film. When Ralf came out of the back entrance of the Warfield, right off the bat he said, "No fotos!." So when my brother Henry said, "Ralf, can you sign my shirt of you and me?" Ralf paused with pen and gave that bewildered "what the..?" puzzled look. If he didn't remember us then. I'm sure he'll remember us now. hehe.

Me and Ralf and Ralf and Me.
Ralf Hutter, co-founding member of Kraftwerk and one of the Grandfather's of all music electronic, at first surely had to be shocked and then a tiny, tiny smirk he grins and wanted to sign his name over his own face on my brother's shirt. My brother Henry was so estatic and fanatic inside. My brother was lucky to make the famous robot act human. But not as lucky as me, as you'll soon see. : P |

Florian's friendy and Henning's in a hurry.
We waited in '98 in what almost seemed like two hours after the concert. We wait just to try. To try to and at least get a glimpse of the Godfathers of Techno. With no premeditated thought or expectation. This time we tried to be prepared. And we succeeded. With no KlingKlang Studio to break down into pieces and only one show to attend, we had to rush and clap once for appreciation, but get out of there! And we did. We rushed to the streets and around the back. I waited with my daughter, Marina. At first it was just us. And sure enough, the door peeks open and it's Florian! It's him! I wanted to jump up and down and point at him, and say, "Hey! You! Look! Do you have any idea who you are???? Here's a mirror!!! Look it's you!!! I approached him slowly like as if I saw a unicorn or a little deer. hehe. I approached him slowly and called calmly from about ten feet. "Excuse me, Florian. Excuse me Mr. Schneider? Can you please sign my record?" He looked and I held out my pen. I jokingly looked at the TDF03 cover and said, "Uh.....your....right...........here" as I pretended to scan the cover looking for him. He signed it and then I thanked him. He never said a word. He just nodded like in Japanese fashion. My daughter watched all this, and I then said, "Marina, look. It's Florian. Say Hi, Marina." I then looked to Florian and said, "It's her first concert, Florian." He then bowed down and reached out his hand to her. She then shook his hand. It was so freakin' kewl. I told him thanks for the show. He never said a word and remained silent.
He then went back in the building and would periodically poke in and out. I tried not to stare but I wanted to just watch him. He then opened the door and out flew Henning! I mean riding out on his bike! helmet tights gloves racing shirt and all! Doh! I missed him. Oh well. He then walked by my brother with his '98 shirt. My brother asked Florian if he could sign it. My brother said Florian glanced at him and the shirt and then just walked by. hehe. Another fan ignored by Florian.
After some time Fritz would come out and so would Ralf. Both shook my daughter's hand and I also got their autograph. It was a perfect end to a perfect concert. |
